My first encounter with AI generated Java code from ChatGPT astonished me. Honestly, it shook me to my core. The AI’s speed and quality immediately made me question our profession’s future. I wondered: will AI make most developers obsolete soon? After all, it’s easy to imagine anyone creating software with a tool like this.

Consequently, I spent the next few months spreading hopelessness. I was convinced the career landscape would shift dramatically. Specifically, desk jobs involving hours on a computer simply won’t endure. AI, I believed, will disrupt and eliminate these traditional roles entirely.

However, I’ve learned a crucial truth. Even the most intelligent LLMs still need human guidance for true mastery. As a daily AI user, I still struggle to get the best results. For a long time, I had four different LLM tabs open all day. I was constantly jumping between them whenever one lost context or failed me.

Therefore, the professional world is indeed on the cusp of a seismic shift. Formal education and prestigious degrees are no longer the sole keys to success. Instead, success will belong to those who can effectively harness LLMs to maximize their productivity and outpace others.

Ultimately, I found myself at the center of this “AI revolution”. I was once a key player, making critical decisions when AI was uncertain. But then, AI upped its game, becoming wiser and more capable than ever. As a result, I saw many freelancers -me included- exit the field, unable to sustain their former income, leaving behind memories of a nostalgic era…
